About Bryant Renfroe

Growing up interested in style, fashion and hairstyling, Bryant Renfroe always hoped that he could some day parlay his passion into a career.  Following a life-changing move to Alabama , Bryant knew it was time to enroll in beauty school, but unable to make ends meet, Bryant moonlighted as a janitor at the very school he attended.  The determination and enthusiasm that carried him through his hardest times continues to be the driving force behind his success today.  After beauty school, Bryant moved to Florida and was immediately hired by one of the top salons in the area.  In 1983, Joan Lunden from Good Morning America called the salon looking for someone to style her hair for the first Walt Disney Christmas Parade.  “It was luck that landed Joan in my chair that day, but the chemistry between us that kept her coming back,” says Bryant. “We became fast friends.”  Two weeks later, Joan asked Bryant to be her hairdresser at ABC in New York .  Despite having never been to New York , Bryant moved to New York , ready to take the next step in his career.  The day that Bryant started at Good Morning America, Kathie Lee Johnson (now Kathie Lee Gifford) was substituting for Joan Lunden on her day off.  Kathie Lee had just had a bad haircut and asked Bryant to fix it.  Bryant reshaped her hair, the two hit it off and she adored her new style.  Bryant was soon introduced to Barbara Walters and began to style her hair for ABC’s 20/20 and The Barbara Walters Special.  In a short amount of time, Bryant had not only moved to New York , but taken the hairstyling scene by storm.  His freelance clients included Joan Lunden, Kathie Lee Gifford and Barbara Walters and all the while, Bryant maintained salon clients, through his work at the Roget Resca Salon.  Bryant is not presently affiliated with a salon.

After two years at Good Morning America, styling guests ranging from celebrities to Presidents to First Ladies to general news makers, Bryant left GMA to work with Kathie Lee at Live with Regis and Kathie Lee.  Bryant’s work experience and his interest and love of hairstyling has helped take him to the next level.  Bryant began appearing in makeover segments on Live with Regis and Kathie Lee.  These segments were so well received that Bryant was asked to be a national spokesperson for Ogilvie Hair products and to participate in a five-year national tour for Ogilvie.  Bryant did TV make overs, newspaper, magazine and radio interviews, all as part of his responsibilities for Ogilvie.  At the same time, he continued to work on Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, with Barbara Walters and in a salon. In 1996, Barbara wanted Bryant for her new show, The View, for which Bryant has won Eight Emmy awards for “Outstanding Hairstylist”. And this year maybe number 9...the nominations are out. He has appeared more than 50 times on The View, covering any number of hair-related topics, including the best hairstyle for your face shape and how to fix a bad haircut.   For 26 years, Bryant has continued to work with Barbara Walters and has traveled around the world for her many interviews.  “I am so fortunate to have seen the world, met and worked with heads of state, movie stars and news makers.  Since that day in Florida , my life has never been the same.  My work in television has allowed me to experience what I could only ever dream of before and I feel honored that I can share my knowledge and expertise among different cultures all over the world.  Before leaving Florida I asked a friend who had been so inspirational to me how I could possible repay him.  His response, ‘Pass it on’.  Everyday, I try my best to honor his words.”
